Description.

A beautiful forest walk with a gentle slope up to the Gutta på skauen picnic area, where there is also a small kiosk open on Sundays during the ski season. The first section from the gravel track to Gjeterstenen is narrow, so pay attention to walkers. The surface is good all the way, but from the picnic area downwards it has a bit of a tractor road feel, which can get muddy when it’s wet. But this is being rectified.

On the way up, you’ll see the valley side, with the occasional waterfall cutting through the forest, and on the way down you’ll get a view of the town and the mountains on the other side of Tromsøya. But one of the best things about the hike is the crystal-clear water, which allows you to look straight down at the beautiful, polished rocks just below the surface of the Tromsdalselva river.

ATTENTION: Please note that due to a shooting range in the area, the soil is lead-poisoned, so take extra care of any animals or children you bring along, so they don’t eat any soil. Otherwise it is harmless.
