Green Cycle Routes, Drammen: Austad gård - Marienlyst - Drammen Station

Start: Intersection Austadveien/ Styrmoes vei.
End: Strømsø torg.

Car traffic: Car-free except for public transport street last two hundred metres.
Type of bicycle that can be used: All.
Special considerations: Sharp right turn downhill after four hundred metres, keep your speed under control. The first part goes through a frisbee golf area, watch out for players.

Alternative to

This route is a good alternative to: Styrmoes vei and Konnerudgata.

Route description

This lovely little walk from Austad to the city centre is completely car-free. It starts at the stately Austad farm and runs through a beautiful avenue down towards Strømsgodset Idrettsforening’s stadium, Gamle gress, at Marinelyst. Note that the avenue runs through a frisbee golf course. At Marienlyst, follow one of Drammen’s finest cycle paths past Drammensbadet to Museumsparken. If you’re out for a walk, this is a good place to stop and watch the carp in the carp pond. From here you have to go through a somewhat narrow underpass before you reach Strømsø torg, which in recent years has become completely car-free, with the exception of buses and taxis.

Several of the Green Cycle Routes in Drammen start or end at the train station at Strømsø torg. From here you can cycle along Bragernes beach to Fjordparken or stay on the Strømsø side of the river and cycle out towards Sølfastøya past Gulskogen via Papirbredden.
