The Helgeland coast - a gem for island hopping by bike

Helgeland is great for cycling. Here you can avoid the heavy tourist traffic and chaos of Lofoten, for example. You can follow the cycle tracks of NRK Sykkelsommer, minute by minute from 2023. The route was designed to enable you to experience as much of the vast coastline full of sights and cultural history as possible.

At the same time, there are several gems NRK missed out on. Feel free to set aside more than the five days they travelled, so that you can take detours to other islands and special accommodation. We recommend bringing good hiking boots so you can climb one or all of the Seven Sisters or find other paths to beautiful scenery, where the bike has to be left at the entrance. The island of Vega is an example where you can go via ferrata, climb the Vega Staircase, hire kayaks to paddle in narrow waters or hike to the nearest peak to watch the sunset.
