Start and finish: Hengsengveien, just south of the pedestrian bridge by the E18 at Skøyen.
Challenges: No major challenges, but a gentle uphill along Rideveien on the return from Huk.
Car traffic: Some traffic about 100 metres along Holts vei by Bygdøy sjøbad and when crossing the bus loop at Huk. Christian Fredriksvei and Bygdøyveien, as well as a cul-de-sac on the last stretch back to the starting point, are somewhat busy.
Type of bicycle that can be used: Mountain bike and hybrid bike.
Special considerations: Parts of the route are shared with a number of pedestrians, especially at weekends.
Alternative to
This route is a good alternative to: Dronning Biancas vei and Strømsborgveien.
Description.
Bygdøy has a network of attractive routes for cycling, especially on the west side. This short route is partly on the most coastal road and passes bathing areas at both Bygdøy sjøbad (very child-friendly) and Paradisbukta. It’s a much safer and more peaceful route out to Huk than along Dronning Biancas vei and Strømsborgveien, which can be busy on fine summer days.
The walkway along the sea often has many users, including pedestrians, joggers and cyclists, so you should keep your speed down here.
At Huk there is a beach, rocky outcrops and grasslands.
On the return journey, we cycle through the beautiful Kongeskogen forest and through the cultural landscape at Bygdøy Kongsgård.
