Description.

This route has everything you could wish for in a green cycling route; it follows flat, easy-to-ride paths through large, continuous green areas. Along Østensjøvannet you cycle through lush wetland areas with rich bird life. Rest areas and playground equipment at the southern end of Østensjøvannet. The trail is a great way to get out into Østmarka for those living in the Godlia, Høyenhall and Skøyenåsen areas. Distinctly child-friendly and safe cycling.

For those who want to cycle further…

It’s about half a kilometre to the next Green Cycle Route, from Bryn towards Grønland. You’ll have to pass through a roundabout and an area with a lot of car traffic before you reach the cycle path along the Alnaelva river. Alternatively, you can cycle from the north end of Østensjøvannet via the west side of the lake back to the start of this route, Skullerud. The road back is still car-free and very easy to cycle, with the exception of one fairly steep uphill (about 250 metres) on the northwest side of the lake.
