Route description
An easy ride characterised by gentle downhill slopes and flat sections through green areas, sports facilities and residential areas. Far less traffic noise and much more pleasant to cycle here than by following the main road along Trondheimsveien. By the football pitches at Vallefeltet you’ll find a fun little wooden lookout tower/art installation. Here you can also choose to turn right down to the new Teglverksdammen, where you can meet a pair of swans if you’re very lucky.
You can easily get from the park at Valle-Hovin to Tiedemansparken via the lavish and beautiful cycle bridge over Grenseveien. A short distance after Grenseveien, you can follow the newly opened Hovinbekken stream before you see the old chimney from the disused Tiedemans tobacco factory, from which the park takes its name. Here you’ll also find several playgrounds and barbecues that are free to use for anyone who brings litter. The route ends close to Tøyenparken, the Munch Museum and the Botanical Gardens, with the Natural History Museum and other great sights.
For those who want to continue cycling…
We recommend the cycle lane along Finnmarksgata in the direction of Carl Berner and Galgeberg, or the hiking route northwards through Tøyenparken and Ola Narr towards Carl Berner.
